fortunuts story
Since 1984 people have been telling me that my walnuts are
so good, they want to know exactly what I do to them! I tell
them "It's a little bit of sugar, a dab of salt and a whole
lota love!"
As a child, my mom would make her special walnut recipe for
friends and co-workers during the holidays, seeing how happy
this delectable treat made everyone, I decided to follow her
lead. She brought me into the kitchen, shared her recipe and
taught me how to get them "just right." Since 1984, it has
become our "mother/daughter" holiday tradition. Fortunately,
we created a following; Many people start asking for the "Holiday
Nuts" in early October! Some years ago, we decided to add
a fortune into each bag as a reminder of how fortunate we
felt each year as our giving list grew.
In December 2002, I was urged to find a way to make our nuts
more accessible to everyone, so I introduced the walnuts to
the public at The Santa Monica Farmers Market, in Los Angeles.
The nuts came in Chinese take-out boxes, with our fortune
messages, and they were a huge success.
Each ounce of nuts was created with love and care. So with
the help of my mother, husband and dear friends, "fortunuts"
was born. We could barely keep up with the bustling holiday
demand and were urged to expand. So here we are!
Since our humble beginning, the line has become a successful
gourmet food item, with assorted sizes, new unique packaging
and made-to-order fortunes.
You can find fortunuts in upscale stores, online and in gourmet
gift baskets. You can now enjoy fortunuts all year round.
They are great for a snack, add them to your favorite salad
or dessert and of course they make a creative and delicious
gift.
Thank you for your interest. We invite you to be "fortunate"
with us!
